EKAV / Eğitim, Kültür ve Araştırma Vakfı, sezona iki ayrı sergi ile başlıyor. Çağdaş sanatın iki önemli ismi Bilge Alkor ve Pınar Yoldaş’ın son dönem işlerinin yer aldığı “Witnesses” ve “Ecophilia” sergileri 16. İstanbul Bienali ile eş zamanlı olarak, 17 Eylül - 19 Ekim tarihleri arasında Ekavart Gallery’de sanatseverlerle buluşuyor.

“Witnesses / Tanıklar”
Melekler ve şeytanlar Bilge Alkor’un elinde ışık kırılmaları, renkler ve gölgeler arasında ete kemiğe bürünüyor, geceye karışana, kıvılcım gibi parlayıp sönene dek var ile yok olanın arasında beden buluyor.
Sergiye adını veren tanıklar korosunu; melekler ve şeytanları yan yana, çakıl taşlarına gizlenmiş olarak görüyoruz. Işıklı kutularda biz onları izlerken onlar da bizleri izliyor. Sanatçının melek ve şeytana getirdiği yorum geleneksel anlayışın dışında. Alkor’un melekleri seyirci oldukları tiyatro karşısında kırgın, yenik ve mutsuz. Şeytanlarına ise, ışık getiren anlamını taşıyan “Lucifer” adını vermiş. Lucifer adından güç alan şeytanlar kurnazlıkla kılıktan kılığa girerek, ayartıcı renkleri ile insanlık oyununa gülmekte.
Alkor’un metal levhanın direncine başkaldırı saydığı gravür ve gravüre duyduğu tutku sanatçıyı düşüncelere dalmış meleğe; Dürer’in Melencolia’sına götürüyor. Meleği yeniden yorumlayan sanatçı, onu simgelerinden arındırarak eline kırmızı bir elma yerleştiriyor, seyirciyi ve meleğini zamansızlık içine yerleştiriyor.
Yapıtlarını yağlıboyadan fotoğrafa, kolajdan foto-resime, fine art baskıdan ikonaya… başvurduğu farklı tekniklerle tiyatro oyunu sahnelercesine oluşturmuş. Sanatçının son on yıl içinde ürettiği ve yeniden yorumladığı eserlerini bir araya getiren serginin küratörlüğünü Duygu Barlas üstleniyor.

“Ecophilia” - Too much World not enough Earth
Gün be gün kendisinden koparak uzaklaşsak da doğaya ve doğal yaşama insan aklımızın alabileceğinden çok daha bağlıyız, çok daha yakınız. Doğa ve sağlıklı doğal yaşam bizleri hemen etkiliyor, sağlığımıza sağlık mutluluğumuza mutluluk katıyor. İnsanın kendiliğinden doğaya karşı ilgisinin ve sevgisinin çevre psikolojisindeki adı: Ecophilia.
İlginçtir ki Latincede ekos yani güncel anlamıyla çevre, “ev” kökünden geliyor. Yani çevre sorunları dediğimizde (ecological issues) ev sorunlarından söz ediyoruz. Ev, bizim evimiz, ecophilia: evini sevmek. Dünya gezegenini sevmek.
Doğal hayatı, doğanın sağlığını ve sürekliliğini korumak şu an 21. yüzyılda yaşayan toplumların hem en büyük sorunu hem de en büyük sorumluluğu. Global ısınma, okyanuslardaki plastik kirliliği, kentsel ortamlardaki hava kirliliği, habitat kaybı, endüstriyel tarım sebepli toprak ve su kirliliği sadece doğal hayatı değil insan sağlığını da hem fiziksel hem de psikolojik olarak etkiliyor. Doğal yaşamdan soyutlanmış, doğaya yabancılaşmış toplumlar empati yoksunu nesillere yol açıyor.
Bu sergide, sanatçı ve bilim kadını Yoldaş, doğal yaşamın teknoloji ile karmaşık ilişkisini anlamak için bir gelecek laboratuvarı sunuyor sanatseverlere. Sanatı teknolojiyi ve yaşam sevgisini bir araya getirmek için kullanan Yoldaş, sanatseverleri ve doğaseverleri Ekavart Gallery’deki ikinci sergisi Ecophilia’ya bekliyor.
EKAV / Education, Culture and Research Foundation starts the season with two different exhibitions. “Witnesses” and “Ecophilia”, which include the latest works of Bilge Alkor and Pınar Yoldaş who are two important names of contemporary art, will be exhibited at Ekavart Gallery between 17 September and 19 October at the same time as the 16th Istanbul Biennial.

In the hands of Bilge Alkor, Angels and Demons become flesh between light refractions, colours and shadows, appearing between the existent and the extinction until it glows like a spark and fades into the night.
The chorus of witnesses who named the exhibition; we see angels and demons side by side, hidden in pebbles. In the light boxes, we watch them, and they watch us. The artist's interpretation of the angel and the devil is out of the traditional understanding. Alkor's angels are offended, defeated and unhappy in the theatre where they are spectators. She called her demons Lucifer, which means light. Demons powered by the name Lucifer are laughing into the game of humanity with seductive colours by cunningly disguising.
Gravure, which is defined as a rebellion against resistance of metal sheet for Alkor, and her passion for engraving bring the artist to Dürer's Melancolia, the angel contemplated in thoughts. Artist who is reinterpreting angel, puts a red apple in her hand by cleaning her icons, places the audience and her angel in timelessness.
She has created her works from oil painting to photography, from collage to photo-painting, from fine art print to icon with different techniques as if she stages theatre play. Duygu Barlas is the curator of the exhibition which brings together the works of the artist that she has produced and reinterpreted in the last ten years.

“Ecophilia” - Too much World not enough Earth
Even if we break away from it day by day, we are much more connected to nature and natural life than our human mind can take. Nature and healthy natural life immediately affect us and add happiness to our health. Ecophilia is the name of human self-interest and love for nature in environmental psychology.
Interestingly, in Latin, ekos in other words, the environment, comes from the root of the “home”. So, when we say environmental problems (ecological issues) we are talking about home problems. Home, our home, ecophilia: to love your home. Love the planet Earth.
Preserving the natural life, health and continuity is the biggest problem and the biggest responsibility of the societies living in the 21st century. Global warming, plastic pollution in the oceans, air pollution in urban environments, habitat loss, soil and water pollution due to industrial agriculture affect not only natural life but also human health both physically and psychologically. Societies isolated from natural life and alienated from nature lead to generations without empathy.
In this exhibition, the artist and the scientist Yoldaş, presents a future laboratory to understand the complex relationship of natural life with technology. Yoldaş, who uses art to bring technology and love of life together, is waiting for art lovers and nature lovers for her second exhibition Ecophilia at Ekavart Gallery.
